Watch some of the top PleinAir artists arrive from 18 states to paint all week around San Angelo and on private ranches in the area! Noted as one of the top plein air competitions in the U.S., EnPleinAirTEXAS has an exciting week of activities and more than $30,000 in prize money for the winning artists. En plein air is the French term for painting outdoors in the open air.
It’s the 100-year anniversary of plein air painting in beautiful West Texas! In 1921, artists and teachers gathered on the South Concho River near Christoval to paint at the Texas Artist Camp, which became one of the best known organizations of its kind in the Southwest.
