Regional Cavalry Competition

Under the rules and guidelines of the United States Cavalry Association (USCA), Fort Concho will once again host the Regional Cavalry Competition.

Competitors from several states, plus active duty and retired military personnel from Fort Carson, CO; Fort Huachuca, AZ; Fort Irwin, CA; and Fort Hood will compete in courses and events on the Parade Ground in saber, pistol, jumping, military horsemanship and combat horsemanship.

Events take place from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, April 20 and 21, with the Pass in Review and Hesse Championship Cup Finals on Saturday, April 23, as part of the annual Fort Concho Frontier Day event. All competitors will be wearing replica military uniforms and using period equipment that reflect the United States Cavalry of the 1800-1944 era. Guests are welcome to bring their own chairs or sit on the benches on Barracks 1 and 2.

The competition is free to the public. A full schedule of events will be posted on the fort’s website at fortconcho.com. Schedule is subject to change.
