The Fort Concho Speaker Series will return from noon to 1 p.m. every Wednesday this September. Each presentation will take place in the Fort Concho Commissary building, located at 702 Burgess St., at Burgess and Avenue C. Attendees are welcome to bring their own lunches. Seating will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Admission is free and open to the public.
This fall’s lineup of topics and speakers includes:
- Wednesday, Sept. 6: “San Angelo and Arthur Stilwell’s Dream of Steam” by Linda Bond, local author.
- Wednesday, Sept. 13: “Upcoming Solar Eclipse” and “Halff of Texas – West Texas Rancher” by Joyce Gray, NASA eclipse educator and local historian.
- Wednesday, Sept. 20: “Spurs and Spur Making” by Hugh Edmonson, local spur expert. *Bring your old spurs to be appraised! Note this is appraisals only, not sales.
- Wednesday, Sept. 27: “The Concho Mail Station: Headquarters of the San Antonio to El Paso Mail Route” by Tom Ashmore, local archaeologist.
