Fairmount Cemetery
About us
Established in 1893, Fairmount Cemetery serves as a final resting place for many San Angelo area residents. Numerous historic monuments fill the site and many date back to the 1800s. The cemetery encompasses more than 57 acres and is designated as a Texas Historic Landmark. The cemetery, rich in history, includes buffalo and Confederate soldiers, soldiers from World War I and II, the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War. Additionally, the cemetery has a memorial site for one of the Sept. 11 victims of the Pentagon attack. Many founders of the City of San Angelo, along with their families, are interred at Fairmount.

Burial space purchasing options
A. Spaces cost $2,500 each, including perpetual care.
B. Perpetual care of $500 is put in a trust account at First Financial Bank for the lifetime upkeep of the space.
C. There are two ways to purchase spaces at Fairmount Cemetery:
- Full payment at purchase, or
- On contract for one to four years. You would pay 10 percent down, and the monthly payment would depend on how many years you wanted to pay the contract off. There is a 10-percent interest on the paid principal balance per year, which figures to 0.8333 percent per month.
D. Once the space or spaces have been paid in full, you will be issued a deed that is signed by the mayor of the City of San Angelo.
E. If a death occurs while paying off space, the space must be paid for in full before the service can be held.
F. The only other charge to the cemetery is a $100 marker survey fee, which is payable at the time of the funeral if a marker has not already been placed. The veteran marker survey fee is $25. This is paid at the Cemetery office either by the family or the monument company setting the marker.
