Adopt-a-Spot program
What is Adopt-a-Spot?
It is a city beautification program manned by volunteers who have the desire to help maintain and beautify City property.
Who can join?
Anyone! Groups, organizations, clubs, families or individuals.
What city property is available?
- You can choose from one of our City parks, sections of the Concho River, traffic medians and neighborhood circles. Many volunteer groups have chosen areas close to their work or areas that they frequent.
- You may also choose to maintain just a portion of a large park.
- You are not limited to the number of “spots” you can adopt.
- You may also suggest a spot to adopt that is not on the available site list.
What are the responsibilities?
They range from quarterly litter pickup to painting facilities to weeding gardens ... or whatever the particular property requires. You tell us what you would like to do for the area you have adopted.
The contact person for each adopting entity is required to submit a report of maintenance each time the site is serviced. Reporting can be done through the Parks email address, regular mail, or calling 325-657-4279.
Is there a required length of time on the adoption contract?
Just one year. Unless notified, there is an automatic renewal of the contract. At that time, you may also switch to a new project or defer participation until a later date.
How do I sign up?
Contact the Parks & Recreation Department either by email or 325-657-4279 and a contract, along with the policy and procedure, and a volunteer release/agreement will be mailed to you. Or, you may stop by the Parks & Recreation office in Santa Fe Crossing at 702 S. Chadbourne St. to pick up a copy of the forms you will need to get started.
Once you have been approved as an adopter, an Adopt-a-Spot sign with your organization’s name will be placed at the site.
