Landfill

Republic Services will accept electronics from people with a photo ID that shows a San Angelo address. The service will be provided year-round.

Accepted electronics include televisions, computers, stereos and cellphones. The landfill also accepts appliances (without freon), which can be picked up during a household’s bulk trash pickup day every other week. The landfill does not accept batteries.

City residents can take their most current water bill (along with their driver's license with a matching address) to dump items for free once per billing cycle. All loads must be secured or tarped. County residents may deliver items at no charge once per month by providing their electric bill.

Citizens not signed up for paperless billing should bring:

• Most recent water bill statement (paper or mobile).
• Valid ID that matches address on statement.

Citizens signed up for paperless billing should bring:

• Most recent water bill statement printout. There is a designation on the paperless printout that shows proof the citizen is signed up for paperless billing.
• Valid ID that matches address on statement.

Republic has constructed a convenience center near the landfill's entrance to provide easy access to self-haulers away from commercial customers disposing of waste. Republic personnel will direct customers to bays and help sort recyclables. 

The landfill will not accept the following:

• PCB – Ballast from fluorescent lights
• Batteries
• Burn barrels
• Anything containing Freon
• Enclosed drums
• Motor oils
• Radiation continued waste
• Household hazardous waste
• Explosives
• Liquid paint
• Petroleum products or byproducts

Free mulch is also available at the landfill. 

Landfill operations are interrupted by six holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Residents with tree limbs and other leftover storm debris have a couple of options for cleanup:

1. Place debris on curb for regular bulk pickup. Please do your best to bundle in 4-foot lengths. Republic Services will accept about the size of a pickup truck bed of bulk items. Whatever is not taken during the first bulk cycle will be picked up during the next.

2. Take debris to the landfill at 3002 Old Ballinger Highway. City residents must present their water utility bill with a matching driver's license for the once-monthly free drop-off. County residents may deliver items at no charge once per month by providing their electric bill.
