Paramedic Program/COAEMSP
The paramedic course uses the 2009 National EMS Educational Guidelines for pre-hospital emergency care. The student will display a working knowledge of clinical and related topics relevant to the practice of pre-hospital emergency medical care at the paramedic level, demonstrate the ability to competently perform all applicable skills, and exhibit attitudes and behavior consistent with the ethics and professionalism expected of a paramedic.
The program will include 792 clock hours of lecture and lab, at least 340 hours of ambulance rotations to include a minimum of 20 team lead emergency runs and 240 hours of Capstone. The program also includes a minimum of 184 hours of clinical rotations at various hospital units (ER, ICU, pediatrics, behavioral unit, OR, L&D). Class length is approximately nine months long.
Cost
The paramedic course is $6,400, which includes tuition, books, ACLS and PALS certification.
Prerequisites
- 18 years of age to take certification exam.
- High school diploma.
- EMT-Basic by the Texas Department of State Health Services or the National Registry of EMTs.
- Proof of required immunizations.
- Proof of medical insurance.
- Current American Heart Association member.
